I found this author when Dream Forge Media announced that her site was their latest project finished, and posted a link to it. While I thought the site was beautiful I was totally captivated by the excerpt she posted and immediately signed up for her newsletter so that I would miss this debut. I book is presently burning a hole in my tbr pile. Once I get back to reading romances (I've been indulging in thrillers & horrors) RP will be the first thing I reach for. Thanks for this great review!

I love PBR - even when I disagree with you.
I saw a recommendation for "The Raven Prince" a few weeks ago, found the author's web site and read the first chapter. WOW - the little details. The first view of the hero (definitely the hero, bad-temper and all); the descriptions of genteel poverty - the details about the lace which takes 5 months to tat/crochet but sells for pennies and the tiny cottage originally shared witha husband and a (sympathetic) MIL; the dialog (wahoo). I wanted this book.
But the middle of the book didn't work for me - there wasn't enough emotional investment for me to follow along with the plot. (And I'm not a critical audience). Plus I found the fairytale references at the start of the chapter contradicted the novel to the extent that I wish that I had ignored the chapter headings.
So, I'm glad I read this book. I'll definitely look for the next one. But I think that this author can be better.

I feel like I've done my job!
One thing that didn't fit neatly into the review is that the last two historical romances I've reviewed came from non-traditional eras (Georgian and Restoration), and both struck me as fresh and unusual. I'm sure there's a connection here.

I'll have to get this one. It' on my TBB list already, but I'm going to move it to the top.

I've picked this up in the bookstore no less than 3 times, all because of the cover - it's beautiful, I think.
Now I'm compelled to pick it up yet again, and this time, I'll take it to the check out and buy it for my very own.
I bet I'll still pick it up when I'm in the bookstore - did I mention that I really like the cover?

I've had my eye on this book for a couple of months. It just moved from: keep that one in mind; to: must read now.
